Ten Early Childhood Centres Open Across Kratie

Play-based learning is giving the province's youngest children a strong start before primary school.

Ten new community early-childhood centres have opened their doors across Kratie province, bringing structured, play-based learning to children aged three to five for the first time in many villages.

Research is clear that the years before primary school shape a child's lifelong learning. Yet access to early education remains low in rural Cambodia. The new centres, run by trained community facilitators, aim to close that gap.

Learning through play

Each centre is equipped with locally made learning materials, picture books and outdoor play equipment. Facilitators guide children through songs, storytelling, counting games and motor-skill activities designed to build the foundations of literacy and numeracy.

Children who attend a good early-childhood programme arrive at primary school ready to learn — and they stay ahead.

Parents are partners in the model: monthly sessions show caregivers simple activities they can do at home with everyday objects, extending learning well beyond the centre walls.
